ON BEING MOTIVATED

It’s good to have a positive attitude, but it’s better to be assertive and take action. Act on your impulses.. BE PRO-ACTIVE, but... Be Prepared. There’s no substitute for preparation and there’s no time like the present to do it.

There needs to be a sense of urgency, a do-it-now mentality. Remember, if YOU don’t do it, IT doesn’t get done! It’s not going to happen by itself.

• Get out of your comfort zone / Find your niche

• Try different things / if you don’t like one thing, try another

• If something isn’t right, move on to something else. But do it NOW...

If you don’t let people know you are out there, how will they know to contact you when they have jobs / projects to give out? They won’t...

When you don’t act on leads, job listings or opportunities immediately, you are letting other people or your competitors get a foothold. Which usually results in lost opportunities.

When your inner voice says research people and places to send your new “killer” cover letter to, and you should be doing this every day for as little as 15 to 30 minutes, then that’s what you need to do.

Do a little each day. Keep at it regularly and consistently and you’ll start to see results. Like learning to play an instrument, you need to practice almost daily to get good at it. You can’t just do this once or twice a week and expect positive results.

After a while, searching for leads becomes easier and more varied and the results get better. And the more meetings and interviews you have, the more comfortable you get speaking to or addressing those patented questions: So tell me about yourself...and others. You’ll succeed because you’ll be that much better prepared than other people.
